Profile
Shafeea specializes in corporate and financial services law and through past work experience, is well-versed in legislative drafting. Shafeea became a registered lawyer in the Maldives in 2011. Shafeea is a registered member at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and a Qualified Mediator at the International Mediation Institute (IMI). She is also a member at the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AIADR).
Since co-founding RCo Lawyers, Shafeea focuses on foreign investments, acquisitions, commercial legal advisory and mediation. Prior to that Shafeea served as in-house Legal Consultant at the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, and later as Deputy Counsel General at the Attorney General’s Office where she worked in matters related to arbitration, human rights and international affairs, and legislative drafting.
From 2015 to 2017, she served as a member of the board of directors of Waste Management Corporation Ltd (WAMCO). From 2019 till present, Shafeea serves as a non-executive director at Centurion PLC.
Education
Shafeea read law at King’s College London and completed Master of Laws in Corporate and Financial Services Law from the National University of Singapore. She also read decision-making and public policy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
Profile
Shirveen joined RCo Lawyers in 2020 and serves in the capacity of Partner. She became a registered lawyer in the Maldives in 2015. In 2021, Shirveen successfully completed the ‘accelerated route to membership on international arbitration’ course recognised by the the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
After completing her Bachelor of Laws (Honors), she worked at the Attorney General’s Office and last held the position of State Counsel. She worked in matters related to arbitration, litigation and legal advisory. She currently also works as a lawyer at the Ministry of Finance where she focuses on advisory, research and legislative drafting related to public finance.
Drawing from her specialization in Commercial Law, Shirveen’s key areas of private practice include contract drafting and legal advisory in investments.
Shirveen also serves as a non-executive member in the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board established under the Law of Privatization, Corporatization, Monitoring and Evaluation of Government Businesses.
In 2018, Shirveen was elected as Co-Chairperson of Family Legal Clinic, the first of its kind registered NGO in the Maldives providing pro bono legal services since 2014.
Education
Shirveen read law at Oxford Brookes University and completed Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge.
Profile
Gatheelath joined RCo Lawyers in 2019 and currently serves in the position of Senior Associate. At RCo Lawyers, Gatheelath handles employment disputes, corporate restructures, and commercial litigation. Prior to joining our team she worked at the Labour Relations Authority where she acquired extensive knowledge and experience in the field of employment law.
Education
Gatheelath read law at Maldives National University, where she completed both Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Master of Laws (LLM) programmes. Prior to her law degree, she completed an Advance Certificate Course in Shariah and Law at the Maldives National University.
