What is the applicable law relating to Business Visa in the Maldives?
The respective law relating to Business Visa is the Regulation No: 113/2021 (Regulation on Business Visa) enacted under Section 9(f) of Law No: 1/2007 (Maldives Immigration Act).
Who can apply for Business Visa in the Maldives?
Foreign nationals wishing to invest and travel to the Maldives can apply for Business Visa if the individual is coming to work or do business in association with any of the following:
- Companies registered under Law No: 10/96 (Maldives Company Act);
- Partnerships registered under Law No: 13/2011 (Partnerships Act);
- Corporative societies registered under Law No: 3/2007 (Corporative Society Act);
- Sole Proprietorships registered under Law No: 19/2014 (Sole Proprietorship Act);
- Non-governmental organizations established under specific law; and
- Government offices and State institutions.
What are the general conditions that must be met by all applicants of Business Visa in the Maldives?
- Must not hold any other visa under the Maldives Immigration Act at the time of applying;
- Must not be convicted of a criminal offence any where in the world;
- Must not be subjected to any prosecution or in investigation of a criminal offence;
- Must not be convicted of a domestic violence offence or any such offence;
- Must not have been subjected to a court order in relation to domestic violence or any such offence;
- Must not have been subjected to a protection order from a tribunal or court regarding a domestic violence offence or any such offence;
- Must not be subjected to an Interpol notice or arrest warrant;
- Must not have been deported from the Maldives;
- Must not have been convicted of a sexual offence or human trafficking;
- Must not have committed a criminal offence or an act of corruption or an offence of money laundering and must not belong to a group of such kind;
- Must have completed security screening; and
- Must not belong to the no entry the tier determined under the Maldives Immigration Act.
How long will a Business Visa stay valid?
Business Visas will be issued for a period of 30 to 90 days.
Who is responsible to issue Business Visa?
Once the application is approved by the Registrar of Businesses, the Controller of Immigration will issue the Visa.
How to apply for Business Visa?
Interested parties can apply for Business Visa by submitting the Visa Application form to business.egov.mv. A Visa fee of MVR 750 will have to be paid every three months.
